Athena's Dream

Trainer Harriet Dickin operates out of Midford in Somerset, and her yard has sent out four winners this season — so horses are winning for her, just not this one yet. At the level Athena's Dream typically competes at, Class 4, the opposition is far from elite, and the fact that it has gone winless from three races at that grade makes the task of finding a first victory feel more pressing rather than less. Class 4 is mid-tier racing — not the glamour end of the sport, but competitive enough that you need to be genuinely decent to break through.

What gives any reason for patience is simply that Athena's Dream is still only four years old and has had just five races. That is a small sample. Some horses take time to figure things out, and a yard that is clearly capable of winning races this season may yet find the right opportunity. But on what we have seen so far, this is a horse that needs to find something extra — and fairly soon — to suggest the wins are coming rather than the retirements.
