David O'Meara's Upper Helmsley yard in North Yorkshire is having a strong season with over a hundred winners already, so Ashina is in a well-regarded training operation. O'Meara sees genuine potential in the filly, believing she will find her stride over six furlongs (three-quarters of a mile) rather than the distances she's been tried at so far. The plan is to step her up to that distance soon, with the prospect of running her over longer trips later in the season as she matures. For a young horse with no wins yet, this kind of positive direction and clear plan from the trainer is often what separates those that click from those that don't. Right now she's a work in progress, but she's racing regularly and the yard has the firepower to make the most of her development.
