Ascending Star

The horse has been busy of late. Looking at its last five outings, it finished third, third, first, third, and third — a pattern that shows plenty of consistency but also hints at some frustration. That one win came at Lingfield, and since then it has returned to the track but not quite managed to recapture the same spark. With a race just a day ago, Ascending Star remains an active runner, still very much in the thick of things rather than being retired or rested. Trainer Owen Burrows, based at Lambourn in Berkshire, has the horse as part of a productive yard that has sent out 32 winners already this season, so the team knows how to get horses across the line.

For a three-year-old with only five races under its belt, Ascending Star has the foundation of something promising — a debut winner who has proven it can stay competitive in subsequent races. The challenge now is converting those near-misses into more victories. The recent form suggests the horse belongs in races against similar opposition, and with Burrows' yard firing on all cylinders this season, there is every reason to think another win could be around the corner.
