The trainer is Clive Cox, one of the sharpest operators at Lambourn. Cox has already sent out 48 winners this season, so there is serious firepower in the yard. That matters when you are trying to figure out whether Art Of Life's lack of wins is simply bad luck or a sign the horse is out of its depth. Two places from four starts is not terrible for a young horse early in its career—plenty of promising runners need a few outings to find the winning post. The recent heavy loss suggests Art Of Life may have had a harder day at the office, but a single bad run does not erase the earlier form. Given the quality of the stable and the fact that the horse keeps getting raced, there is reason to think Art Of Life might break through before long.
