Since that Leicester win eight weeks ago, though, Anyasi has found things tougher. The last four races tell the story: a fifth, then a win, then another place, and most recently a third. It is a pattern that suggests some inconsistency creeping in — capable of good days, but no longer stringing wins together. Still, with two victories from four outings, the overall record remains genuinely impressive for a young horse still finding its feet.
Roger Varian trains Anyasi from Newmarket, a yard that has been firing on all cylinders this season with 87 winners already. Varian is a trainer who knows how to develop talent at three-year-old level, and Anyasi's early wins suggest there may be more to come. The horse raced just a day ago, so it is actively racing and clearly being aimed at targets. Whether Anyasi can rediscover that June and July form, or whether it has already shown us its ceiling at four races in, will become clear soon enough.
