The backstory is one of the best in racing. Millman has revealed that the yard initially planned to spend around £50,000 buying a horse at auction. Anthelia was in the ring, the bidding stayed low, and he picked her up for just £6,000. She has since won at Sandown, Newbury, and Salisbury in top-level races, making her worth many times that figure. As Millman put it with some understatement, she is "worth just a little bit more than that now."

Her partnership with jockey Lewis Edmunds has been central to the story. In eight races together, they have won five — that is roughly 3 in every 5 races, an extraordinary hit rate between horse and rider. Millman has spoken about how the yard's staff recognised her quality from her very first sharp canter, and that early instinct has proved right. She kicked off her career with a win at Bath in April 2025, then went on to take the Super Sprint at Newbury in July — a race with real prize money and serious competition — before landing another Class 1 at Salisbury in September.

The most recent form has been patchier: two wins from her last six races, with a sixth and a seventh thrown in, and she finished fifth in the big sales race at York. But Millman is not panicking. He has spoken openly about targeting the Cheveley Park Stakes, one of the most prestigious races of the season for horses her age, and has the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy as a backup. With 40 winners already sent out by the yard this season and a horse that cost less than a family car now competing for the sport's biggest prizes, Anthelia has become the kind of story that makes racing genuinely hard to ignore.
