Over seven furlongs to a mile, Angel's Call has won 1 from 4 races — 25%, which is a significantly better return than her overall record suggests she's capable of. That's the sweet spot, and when the yard place her there, she becomes a different proposition. Curiously, she has yet to win in five attempts at Class 6, which is the level she most often competes at — so the Ffos Las win may well have come in a different class bracket and could point to her being better than her usual company.

Nikki Evans trains her from a small yard in Pandy in Monmouthshire, and with just two winners on the board this season, Angel's Call's latest result is a meaningful contribution to the stable. Joshua Bryan has been the regular partner, winning once from five rides together — a 20% win rate, which is actually a healthy return and comfortably above her career average. That combination clearly has some chemistry worth watching. With her best form coming right now, Angel's Call is a horse in form at the right moment of the season.
