The recent form reads 2-3-3-6, working backwards from the second place that came just a day ago, meaning Angel Sense is very much a horse in the thick of its season right now. Three placings from four races is actually a solid foundation for a young horse still learning the job — two-year-olds are essentially teenagers being asked to perform under pressure, and consistently finishing close is a sign that ability is there. The win, when it comes, may not be far away.
The trainer behind the operation is Marco Botti, who runs one of Newmarket's respected yards and has sent out 45 winners already this season — a number that speaks to a stable in good form and well-organised enough to keep horses improving. Newmarket is the heartland of British racing, home to some of the sport's sharpest minds and best facilities, so Angel Sense is learning the trade in good company. When a yard is firing at that kind of volume, horses that are placing regularly tend to be the ones that get the right opportunities to break their duck.
Angel Sense has not won yet, but it has not been embarrassing itself either. For a two-year-old still figuring things out, that is a perfectly reasonable place to be.
