Amsterdam's Law

The recent form reading 7 then 5 tells a mildly encouraging story if you squint at it the right way — finishing fifth most recently suggests some improvement from that seventh, though neither run has come close to threatening the places. Whether that upward nudge is meaningful or just the noise of a young horse settling, only more races will tell.

Trained by Robson De Aguiar at a yard in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Amsterdam's Law is at least in competent hands. De Aguiar's team has sent out 16 winners already this season, which shows this is an operation that knows how to get horses to the track in a condition to win. That matters for a young, unproven horse — it is better to be waiting for your moment in a yard that produces results than drifting through one that does not. Amsterdam's Law raced just yesterday, so it is right in the thick of its campaign, and there will be more chances to come.
