Altura

What works firmly in Altura's favour is who is doing the training. Mrs John Harrington, based at Moone in County Kildare, is one of the most respected names in the sport, and her yard has sent out 53 winners already this season — a level of output that tells you this is an operation that knows how to get horses ready to perform. When a trainer is firing at that rate, the horses in their care tend to be placed with purpose, and a young three-year-old like Altura is likely still finding its feet and being educated rather than thrown into the deep end.

With only two races on the clock, it is genuinely too early to draw firm conclusions. Some horses take time to click, and the combination of a young age, a top-tier yard, and a placing already banked suggests Altura is one to keep an eye on as the season continues.
