The highlight that stands out is a Class 2 win at Newbury in July 2025. Class 2 is one of the upper tiers of British racing, meaning Almuhit has beaten some decent horses in its time. The fact that it also won at Newbury previously tells its own story: two wins from five races at the same track is not luck, it is familiarity. Some horses simply suit a particular course — the layout, the cambers, the way the ground drains — and Newbury appears to bring out the best in this one.

Ground conditions matter too. On fast, dry ground, Almuhit wins 2 from 6 races, a 33% success rate that is well above its overall career average. That is a significant clue for anyone watching. When the summer comes and the ground firms up, this horse becomes a different proposition.

The recent form is harder to put a positive spin on. The last six races show finishes of third, ninth, seventh, seventh, a non-runner, and sixth — no wins in that sequence, and not much to suggest one is imminent. Jockey Isabelle Ryder has been aboard for six of those races without a victory together, though form like that is rarely down to one person. At Class 2 level, Almuhit wins roughly 1 in every 8 races, and that is simply a tough grade to win consistently in.

Bramley's yard has sent out 18 winners already this season, so the operation is in good shape. The question is whether Almuhit — who raced just yesterday and is clearly still active and competing — can find its way back to the Newbury winner's enclosure where it belongs. It has done it twice before. On the right day, with the sun out and the ground firm, it is not as far-fetched as the recent run of results might suggest.
