Look at those last four results in reverse order and you can see a horse finding its feet. An eleventh-place finish gave way to two fourth-place efforts, and most recently a runner-up spot — which means Almeiyda went closer last time out than at any previous point in its career. That kind of improving arc in a young horse is exactly what trainers look for, and a first win may not be far away.

The trainer is D K Weld, one of the most respected names in Irish racing, operating out of Curragh in Co Kildare. With 21 winners already on the board this season, the yard is firing on all cylinders, which makes Almeiyda's continued placing in competitive company all the more notable — these are not soft opportunities being handed out. Having raced just one day ago, Almeiyda is clearly a fit and active horse right now, and the yard will be hoping that recent second-place finish is the springboard to a breakthrough.
