Al Aali

The recent form tells an interesting story. Wind the clock back through the last six runs and you see a horse that spent most of 2025 and early 2026 finishing in the bottom half of fields, churning out results of 10th, 8th, 7th, and 5th. That kind of sequence can test the patience of anyone involved. But the last two runs show something clicking into place — back-to-back fifth-place finishes before that winning run at Newmarket on 17 July 2026. Progress, then a breakthrough.

The trainer behind it is George Scott, who operates out of Newmarket itself, so Al Aali was essentially winning on home soil. Scott's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 52 winners — that is the output of a stable that knows what it is doing and has horses in good order. Having a trainer who knows the track inside out is never a disadvantage, and Newmarket is a course with its own quirks that rewards horses who suit its long, galloping straight.

At four years old, Al Aali is still relatively young and has room to build on that first win. The career record — 1 win, 1 place from 7 races — is modest, but every horse has to start somewhere, and a first win always changes the conversation. Whether this is the beginning of a run of form or a one-off highlight, only the next few races will tell. What we know right now is that Al Aali ran yesterday and won, and in racing, that is everything.
