What stands out most is Afraj's clear sweet spot: distances between seven furlongs and a mile. Over that range, the horse has won two of four races, a 50% win rate that is genuinely eye-catching. Most three-year-olds at this stage are still finding their feet, but Afraj seems to have already worked out where it runs best. That knowledge matters. It gives the trainer options and tells the betting public something concrete about what to expect.

The last six races tell a story of a horse capable of hitting good days. After a fourth-place run three weeks ago, Afraj returned to form four weeks back at Kempton to get back on the board. Before that, two third-place finishes and a win earlier in the sequence suggest a horse that is competing at a decent level and holding its own. Trained by John and Thady Gosden at Newmarket — a yard that has sent out 140 winners this season alone — Afraj has the backing of one of the sport's most respected operations. The horse raced just yesterday, which means it is very much in active work and the trainer clearly believes there is more racing to be done this season.
