Trained by Roger Teal out of Lambourn in Berkshire, Adores is at least in capable hands. Teal's yard has sent out 22 winners already this season, which shows the stable knows how to get horses into the winner's enclosure — the challenge now is doing the same with this one. Lambourn is one of Britain's most famous training villages, home to dozens of yards, and a base there at least suggests the horse is being prepared by people who take the job seriously.

The one flicker of encouragement in an otherwise difficult record is that fourth-place finish, which at least shows Adores can get close to the frame when things go right. Whether that translates into a first win is the question the team will be working to answer. With the horse having raced just yesterday, whatever they are doing, they are keeping Adores busy — and sometimes it just takes the right race on the right day for a young horse to click.
