Acrisius

Trained by the father-and-son partnership of Michael and David Easterby out of Sheriff Hutton in North Yorkshire, Acrisius operates at what is known as Class 5 level — the sort of races where horses are evenly matched and every win has to be earned. And at that level, Acrisius has been genuinely effective: 2 wins from just 5 races there, meaning it has won 40% of its races at the right grade. That is a remarkable hit rate and suggests the team have a clear picture of where this horse belongs and how to place it well.

The career highlights are a first win at Brighton in September 2024, followed by a more recent success at Chester in July 2025. Chester is a genuinely tricky track — a tight, almost oval circuit unlike anything else in British racing — so winning there is never a given. That Chester victory stands as the peak of Acrisius's career so far.

The recent form, however, tells a more complicated story. Reading the last six runs in order — most recent first — Acrisius finished 16th, then 9th, then 13th, before that Chester win in the middle of the sequence, followed by a third and a seventh. That current run of three poor performances after the Chester win is a concern, and the 16th-place finish is hard to explain away. Still, with 55 winners sent out by the Easterby yard this season alone, this is clearly a stable in form, and Acrisius raced just one day ago, meaning the yard are keeping the horse busy and active. Whether that recent dip is a blip or something more persistent is the question worth watching.
