Acclamation Star

What makes the recent form interesting is the consistency of effort. Acclamation Star has won two of its last six races, but across those same runs there have also been two placed efforts, meaning the horse has finished in the money in four of the last six outings. That tells you this is not a one-hit wonder — there is form here, even when the horse is not winning. The most recent victory at Salisbury this week shows the horse is active, sharp, and clearly in good order in James Owen's Newmarket yard. Owen's operation has already sent out 205 winners this season, so the horse is in a stable with strong form and the know-how to get young racehorses winning.

The only blemish in the last six runs came on two occasions when Acclamation Star finished well down the field, suggesting there will be days when things do not fall into place. But at two years old, a horse with two wins, three places, and the ability to strike roughly one in three times is exactly the sort you want to keep an eye on. There is genuine scope for improvement still to come.
