That Newbury victory this week is particularly telling, as Newbury is a proper racecourse where better horses compete. Recent form reads 1-1-5-3-3-4 (most recent first), which shows two wins sandwiched around a fifth place, then three placings and a fourth. That dip to fifth is the only real blemish in an otherwise strong run, and the very latest result—a win just days ago—suggests the horse is in the sweet spot of its preparation.

Tom Ward's yard at Upper Lambourn is a steady operation with 14 winners sent out this season, and Abundant represents exactly the sort of progressive, consistent performer that builds a trainer's reputation. The horse is still young with plenty of racing ahead, and on current form looks well capable of adding to its tally before the season is out.
