Abletai

The most recent run, just yesterday, followed a placed effort that showed Abletai can compete when things click. The form reads 8-2-6 working backwards, which tells an interesting story in itself — that second-place finish in the middle of those three races was the highlight, bookended by two less impressive efforts. Young horses can be maddeningly inconsistent, and Abletai fits that pattern.

The horse is trained by M C Grassick at Curragh in County Kildare, one of the most famous addresses in Irish racing. The yard has sent out six winners this season, so there is clearly ability in the string and Grassick knows how to get a horse ready to win. The question is when Abletai will put together the kind of run that turns that placed finish into a first victory. At two years old, there is plenty of time to find out.
