The conditions she loves are worth knowing about. On wet or muddy ground, Abbey Actress is almost impossible to ignore — she's won two of her three races in those conditions, a remarkable 67% success rate. That's winning two out of every three times the rain falls. Pair that with her preferred trip of a mile and three to a mile and four furlongs, and you've got a horse that becomes a serious contender when everything lines up. Over that distance range, she's won two of four races, or exactly half the time. Knowing what a horse wants — the right distance, the right ground — is half the battle in racing, and Abbey Actress makes no secret of hers.
Her most recent win came at Leopardstown just three weeks ago on 11 June 2026, which is significant because Leopardstown is one of Ireland's premier tracks. Getting on the board there is not something most horses manage. Her career began with a first win at Killarney back in October 2024, but it's clearly the more recent form that tells the better story.
She's trained by J P Murtagh at a yard in Co Kildare that has sent out 53 winners already this season — that's a genuinely prolific training operation, and a horse in this kind of form doesn't land at a yard like that by accident. Regular jockey Ronan Whelan has ridden her five times, winning once together, but given how sharply Abbey Actress has come into form lately, that partnership may well have more chapters to write.
