Her sire, Mehmas, was one of the fastest two-year-olds of his generation — a sprinting type who passed that speed on to many of his offspring. Her mother is by Dutch Art, another horse built for quick, sharp races over shorter distances. Put those two together and you would expect 00shemda to be quick out of the gate and well-suited to sprint distances, at least at this stage of her career.
Two-year-old debut runners are always a gamble to assess — even the best trainers in the world are learning something new every time a young horse steps onto a track for the first time. What we do know is that the Gosden team have the tools, the staff, and the track record to give any horse the best possible preparation. Whether 00shemda is ready to win today or simply gaining experience, she comes from a yard where the standard is high and expectations are managed carefully.
