The breeding is worth a glance. The sire Blackbeard was a sharp, speedy two-year-old himself, which at least hints at the possibility of early ability rather than a horse who needs time and distance to find her feet. The dam is Australian-bred, and Australian bloodlines tend to bring toughness and a willingness to run — though how much of that filters through to a first-time runner is anybody's guess.
What we do know is that Brian Meehan's stable at Manton in Wiltshire is in decent form this season, with 13 winners already sent out. That matters. A yard in good nick tends to have its horses fit, confident, and ready — and trainers who know their horses well tend to know when one is ready to run well first time out. Meehan is an experienced operator, and Manton is one of the more established training grounds in the country. A debut from this yard is not an afterthought.
Beyond that, it is simply a case of watching and waiting. Every horse starts somewhere, and today is where 00serenely starts.
