What is equally encouraging is who has the horse in training. Richard Hannon, based at Herridge in Wiltshire, is one of the busiest and most successful handlers in Britain — and this season his yard has already sent out 118 winners. To put that in context, most trainers would consider 20 or 30 winners a good year. When a horse walks out for its first race from a yard operating at that kind of volume and consistency, it is not walking out unprepared. Hannon's operation has a long track record of knowing exactly when a young horse is ready to run.
That said, a debut is still a debut. No race record means no real evidence yet — just potential and pedigree. The next step is to see whether the breeding translates into performance on the track.
