On breeding alone, there is reason to pay attention. The sire, Starman, was a seriously fast racehorse — a sprinting specialist who won at the highest level in Britain — and horses by him tend to carry that electric, early pace. The mother's side brings in Canford Cliffs, another top-class horse whose offspring have shown they can be quick and precocious. Put that together and you have a two-year-old built, on paper at least, to be sharp from the word go.
The trainer, Richard Hannon, operates one of the biggest and most productive yards in the country from his base in Wiltshire. Sending out 118 winners in a single season is a remarkable output — that is not a yard guessing its way through the summer, that is a well-oiled machine. Hannon has made a career out of getting the best from young horses in particular, and a two-year-old with this kind of pedigree landing in his hands is exactly the sort of combination worth watching when the first race comes around.
