The trainer is Ralph Beckett, whose yard at Kimpton in Hampshire is one of the most productive in the south of England. With 109 winners already sent out this season, Beckett's operation is clearly in excellent form — that is not a background number to gloss over. Running over a hundred winners in a season takes consistent, well-managed horses and a team that knows what it is doing. A two-year-old stepping out for the first time from a yard in that kind of shape is worth paying attention to, because the horse is almost certainly ready to show something.
Beyond that, there is simply nothing yet to go on. No times, no rivals beaten, no ground preferences, no clues about trip. The debut will tell us far more than any amount of paddock analysis. For now, 00baldovina is a question mark with a decent pedigree and a very good trainer behind it.
